Designated Panel Clinics in Nepal for TB Clearance Certificate

What Is the Japan Pre-Entry TB Screening?

The Pre-Entry Tuberculosis Screening is a mandatory health check that ensures students entering Japan are free from active TB infection. This is not only a public health measure but also a step to ensure students remain healthy during their studies abroad.
Starting in 2024 and continuing in 2025, many Japanese immigration offices (such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya) have made TB clearance certificates a required document for COE application.

The test must be completed at a Japan Embassy-approved medical facility in your home country, and the certificate should clearly state that no active TB was found.

These are medical institutions officially approved by Japan’s JPETS for tuberculosis screening for nationals of Nepal.

What to Check / Keep in Mind

  1. 1. Make sure the clinic is officially listed under JPETS as a “Panel Clinic”. Only certificates from approved clinics are accepted.
  2. 2. The TB test must include a Chest X-ray (and sputum test if required) done within a specific time before you apply for COE — usually within 3 months or whatever is stated by the clinic.
  3. 3. The certificate must clearly show name, date of X-ray, result (no active TB), the clinic name, doctor’s stamp or signature. If in Nepali, might need translation.
  4. 4. The validity period of the certificate is generally 180 days from the date of the chest X-ray, but it may vary depending on clinic or conditions.
